Spring is here! The warm weather is on its way, slowly but surely! With the warm weather coming up, it is always a good idea to thoroughly go through your home and do a deep clean. There are many ways to complete your spring cleaning projects, but we are here to make it as fast and as painless as possible!

Plan It
Leave a weekend open to commit to your spring cleaning. The garage is always a great place to start. Typically, the garage is the dirtiest and if you start with that, it generally gets easier from there. Or, if your closet is a mess and you still have clothes from the ’80s, it may be more beneficial to start there. Plan each room of your house and decide what you are going to clean in each room. Which rooms are going to take a long time to clean and which rooms are not going to be as time consuming?

Create a List
Spring cleaning can be a fun family activity that even the kids can join in on and help out.Decide who gets what responsibilities and different tasks. After some of the tasks have been done, take a break, and ensure each room is spotless for the upcoming summer and the fun that comes right along with it. Once each room that was assigned looks spotless, the whole family at this point has earned some ice cream because Spring cleaning is hard work! After the ice cream break, it is important to go over some things that are generally overlooked. Some extra things on Spring cleaning lists that wouldn’t normally be thought of are: Scrubbing stains off walls, shining up and polishing wood trim, polishing metal door and window hardware, washing window screens, defrosting the freezer, updating first-aid kits and much more.

Do More Than Just Clean — Organize!
Spring cleaning is much more that just wiping down the surfaces of your home and calling it quits. Spring is the one time of the year that you should get psyched and pumped up that the weather is starting to get nicer and we are finally thawing from the deep Wisconsin Winter. Organizing your home may sound like a project, but just rearranging your furniture and switching things up can really make the house f

eel much more spacious.

The Dreaded Closet
Whether you have a gigantic walk-in closet, or a tiny closet that you just store your wardrobe in, you probably have some things that you could probably donate to a local charity or someone in need. Start by going through your shirts, then pants, then shoes. Ask yourself; “When is the last time I wore this?” If it’s been over a year, it is not likely that you will wear it again. Also, think about all of your winter stuff that you are going to put away in storage, are you going to wear that winter stuff next year, or will it be time to update your winter stuff next year? If you go through your things this way, and organize your stuff by style, it will be much easier to locate them when you are getting ready and you want a specific shirt, or your favorite pair of jeans!

Don’t Forget Outside!
The harsh Wisconsin Winters can have a large affect on the outside of your home. Inspect your gutters and roof to ensure that nothing has built up and nothing could cause future problems. If there is something wrong with the gutters, and you are unsure how to fix it, get help. That is what the community of homebuilders is for. Don’t forget to scrub patios, decks, and walkways as well as your outdoor grill. For your outdoor grill, take off the grates and rub them with strong, but safe soapy water, and a ball of steel wool. This should get off all of the leftover grease from last season. Last but not least, clean your windows thoroughly. Make sure there are no finger prints on them any marks from the kids when they steamed up the windows with their breath and wrote messages on them during the cold weather. Having a clean home inside and outside is very liberating and can make you feel better, Spring cleaning is not always the most exciting thing to do, but once it is done, it feels great. Now it is your turn, go ahead and plan a weekend that will work for your family!
