New Homes Month
April 11, 2014

For the second year in a row Governor Scott Walker has declared April to be New Homes Month. He signed an official proclamation saluting the new home construction and remodeling industries. New Homes Month is a celebration of housing, home ownership, and the jobs that go along with it. The recession in 2009 had hit the home building industry hard, but the recovery has had a strong beginning. The industry is now building, hiring, growing, and in general just moving forward. Now more than ever the statistics show that it is the perfect time to build your home. There are a large selection of homes to choose from and mortgage interest rates are at a near-record low. Besides these excellent points here are five more reasons why the month of April should be the month you build the home of your dreams.
1. Environmentally Friendly Home Features
New homes have all the environmentally friendly features you would ever want in your home. New homes come equipped with energy-efficient tankless water heaters, Energy Star Appliances, and HVAC systems (which are immune to problems like ac blowing warm air). These homes also have more effective insulation, windows, and doors that make the home more comfortable. It can also end up saving the home owner and good amount of money in the long run, since the heating costs will not be as high. This is an investment that you will have for quite some time you want to make sure you get the best home features possible. New homes will guarantee that you will have the best of the best and they are not only safe for you and your family, but also safe for the environment.
2. Lower Maintenance and Operating Costs
An example of this is that even though new homes are often larger than existing homes their energy bills are an average of ten percent lower. Another benefit is the peace of mind for your family’s safety. A new home is built with the proper permits, has passed recent inspections, and conforms to recent building codes. You don’t have to worry that the repairs or renovations were done by an unskilled worker, the wiring is old or connected improperly, or outdated materials were used. This ends up saving the home owner loads of money in the long run, because you won’t be surprised by unexpected repair bills for structural defects, hidden water damage, or faulty appliances. On average maintenance costs for a new home is 56% lower than the cost for maintenance in older homes.
3. State-Of-The-Art Technology Capabilities
Today’s appliances, entertainment resources, and home automation require more recent technology in order for them to work properly in your home. This is technology that the existing homes either do not have or had to pay and excessive amount of money to have redone. New Homes are equipped with the electronic and wiring components that can easily handle our excessive technology we so desperately need in our daily lives. They can accommodate high-definition televisions, full house sound systems, complex lighting, hard-wired fire and security alarms and much more.
4. Move-in Ready
As a home buyer you can work with the builder before the construction begins to pick out the counter tops, appliances, floor coverings, cabinets, custom features, paint colors, or any other aspects of the design process that you have questions about. This means that your house will meet the exact needs and tastes of you and your family. You will get exactly what you want the first time. In the end this will save you a countless amount of time and energy when you do not have to paint, tear out unwanted features, or have your day interrupted as a contractor comes in and makes the changes.
5. Room to Entertain
Existing homes do not have all the features that cater to our modern lifestyle. An excellent example of this is that many existing homes have you cooking in the kitchen as your guests are gathering in separate rooms. It can make you feel isolated from your guests and make you seem like a bad host. Many of the new homes have open-concept layouts that allow for easy conversation while entertaining. New homes also have walk-in pantries, creative storage solutions, and convenient laundry locations. This are all things many existing homes do not have and matter much more than you think.
These are just some of the reasons why you should start building your home now. For an extensive list go to http://www.wisbuild.org
