Making Sure the Grass Isn’t Greener on the Other Side

As a homeowner, there is a lot of work that goes into making your house your home and that includes yard work. Keeping a healthy and well-maintained yard goes a long way into the appearance of your home. Nothing is better than having the satisfaction of having the greenest, healthy, and weed-free lawn in the neighborhood. A beautiful, lush, and natural-looking lawn becomes a big part of how many people come to define “home.”
Lawn care is easily looked over when maintaining a home, but it is vitally important. The appearance of your lawn can affect the appearance of your overall home. No one likes to look at a beautiful home if there is no green grass in front of it. A bare or brown yard is a definite turn-off to potential buyers and an eyesore to the neighborhood.
It is true that lawn care can be a lot of work, but it can also be very rewarding. One of the most important factors when putting in a new lawn or trying to rejuvenate your current yard is the soil. Without a good soil foundation, you will not be able to achieve a full, green, and weed-free lawn. Having or taking a soil sample will tell you what your soil needs to support a healthy lawn. You can buy a do-it-yourself kit from any local lawn care store or hire a professional. Once you have your results you may need to add soil to achieve that lawn of your dreams.
Once you have a good soil base, it is time to think about what type of grass to plant. There are many different types that you may be able to grow depending on the region that you live in. Going to your local home improvement store and asking questions will go a long way to making sure you buy and plant the right type of grass. They will also be able to help guide you in finding the right type of fertilizer and weed prevention products for your home.
Another good tip is to locate the best-looking lawn in your neighborhood and initiate a conversation with the owner. They can give you a good idea of what types of seed, fertilizer, and watering schedules might also work well in your yard. Then it is time to plant, weed, water, and maintain your own yard. Take pride in your work and try to become the home with the best-looking lawn in the neighborhood! No one wants the grass to be greener on the other side, make it on your side!
