GROWN-UP SNOW DAYS
December 21, 2012

Okay, we know this is coming a day or two late, but better late than never! Winter is a long season…more snow days are sure to happen!
On those days when you’re snowed in your home, you’ll probably be tempted to make it a lie-on-the-couch-and-drink-hot-chocolate-while-watching-movies-all-day kind of day, and there is nothing wrong with that! Sometimes you just need to unwind. But, if you’re looking to mix in a little productivity, there are always some things to do around the house!
1. Rearrange a room – This is always fun to do. Give your room an easy make-over by moving some furniture around. It will give your room a totally new feeling. If you have a fireplace, try moving the couch closer to it so you can cuddle up by a fire later.
2. Laundry – Okay, so this may not be the fun thing to do, but snow days are a great time to get caught up on some laundry. Put in a load before going outside and building a snowman with the kids. Fold some clothes while you get caught up on your favorite soap opera. Getting things like the laundry done during the day will let you relax in the evening.
3. Clean out a junk drawer – You know which one I’m talking about. The one that has three years worth of random knick-knacks stuffed into it. Snow days are perfect to go through and sort through those priceless treasures!
4. Bake a batch of cookies – Whether you need to get some Christmas cookies ready or you are just bored, adding the freshly-baked cookie smell to the house is never a bad idea. Get the kids involved and make it into a fun activity for everyone.
5. Play with the family – Pull out an old board game or go outside and play in the snow together! Whether you have children, a significant other, or it’s just you and the dog, you can create fun memories during a snow day.
6. Shop online – Cuddle up on the couch with your computer and spend a little money on yourself. In a week or so, you’re new items will be waiting on your doorstep!
7. Sort through all your photos – Create a few new albums, choose some to print out and frame, or just allow yourself to reminisce in all the good times.
8. Go blog-hunting – Instead of getting caught up in a book, try scoping out some new blogs (we promise not to be offended!). If you’re into DIY house projects, check out Young House Love. If you want to read about food, visit Table for Two. There are thousands of awesome blogs out there to read!
Just because you’re snowed in doesn’t mean the day is lost. There is always something to do!
