Now that summer is officially here its time to get out on your patio and start grilling! Below are some tips and tricks to making delicious food on your grill this summer:
1. Have the right equipment
Although grilling is a pretty basic form of cooking, all you need is a fire and food, there is some equipment that might make grilling easier and more enjoyable.
2. Don’t move your food the minute you put it on the heat
Many people tend to move their food just minutes after they put it on the grill. Put the food down to give it a chance to cook, if you keep moving it around it will not have a chance to cook and will take longer to be ready.
3. Know when your food is done
When grilling, it is important to master getting the food off of the grill at the right time. It can take a little practice, but as you’re learning remember this simple rule: when in doubt, it is better to undercook than overcook. You can always put the food back on the grill to keep cooking, but you can’t undo overcooked food.
4. Let meat and poultry rest when you are done grilling it
It is important to let your food rest for at least five minutes when you are done cooking it. This lets the juices thicken up a bit so when you cut into your meat they don’t run all over your plate, but instead stay in your food making it taste better. Fish, on the other hand, does not need to rest and should be served immediately because it loses heat quickly.
