Looking for a growing community in a great location to make your next move to? The Town of Freedom can provide you with just that and much more! Freedom has a population of 5,910 and it is continuing to expand! The benefit of having a smaller population is that there is a lot of untouched land giving one more options when buying/building a home. Freedom has rural lands, farming, and urbanized subdivisions. Location
One of the great things about Freedom is its location. The Town of Freedom is located in Outagamie County and is conveniently located about halfway between Appleton and Green Bay. This allows you to enjoy the peacefulness of country living while still being only a short drive from many popular areas. Its location is a huge advantage, it provides citizens with easy access to work, school, and anywhere else they want to go!
Economy
The Town of Freedom is part of The Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce, this is a group of 11 communities in the surrounding areas including; Buchanan, Combined Locks, Darboy, Harrison, Hollandtown, Kaukauna, Kimberly, Little Chute, Sherwood and Wrightstown. The driving economic force in Freedom is The Freedom Area School District as it provides a significant amount of jobs within the community.
Education
The Freedom Area School District is made up of over 1,620 students ranging from Pre-K to Grade 12. The district covers the entire Town of Freedom, along with parts of surrounding areas including the Town of Center, Kaukauna, Oneida, Osborn and parts of Appleton. Freedom High School, Freedom Middle School and the District Administrations Office are all located at a combined campus. Freedom Elementary School is located at a separate campus about two miles from the combined campus. The Freedom Area School District has been recognized as one of the highest achieving school districts within the Fox Valley.
Government
Freedom’s government is made up of 6 town board members: The Chairman – Steve Lowney, Supervisors – Robert Schuh, Tim Maass, Dave Rickert, Thomas Murphy, and the Clerk/Treasurer – Barbara Seegers.
Parks & Recreation
The Town of Freedom has three major parks in the community.
- Citizen’s Park – A mini-park that is located in the heart of the community, often used as a gathering point. The parks facilities include a gazebo, park benches and beautiful landscaping.
- Rickert Park – Named after Joseph Rickert, a former Town Board Supervisor, this park is very spacious and located in a great area. The park has playground equipment, restrooms, and a parking lot.
- VFW Memorial Park – This is the communities largest park for it covers approximately 32 acres. The park has 4 softball diamonds, a hardball diamond, soccer fields, a park area and restrooms.
