Combined Locks is one of the smaller communities in the Fox Valley. This quiet village has a population of roughly 3,500, but is continually growing. The more relaxed living environment of Combined Locks makes this area appealing to many people. Check out this community profile on Combined Locks and learn more
about this great community:
Location
Combined Locks has a perfect location for those who are looking for somewhere quiet, but still close to common city amenities. The community is located within minutes of Highways 441 and 41, making it extremely convenient for commuting. Many stores and shops are also only a short drive away.
Economy
One of the biggest companies within village limits is Appleton Coated L.L.C Division, which is the paper mill located on Prospect St. in Combined Locks. The mill provides many in the community with employment, but because Combined Locks is in such close proximity with neighboring cities there are many other sources of employment for those in the community.
Education
Combined Locks lies between two school districts; Kimberly Area School District and Kaukauna Area School District. The Kimberly Area School District is made up of seven schools, three of which are located right in the village of Kimberly. These three schools are Westside Elementary, Mapleview Intermediate, and JR Gerritts Middle School. Other schools in the area include CORE Charter School and Appleton Christian School.
The Kaukauna Area School District is comprised of seven schools; Dr. H.B. Tanner Elementary, Victor Haen Elementary, Electa Quinney Elementary, River View School, Kaukauna High School, New Directions Learning Community, and Park Community Charter School.
Government
Combined Locks is governed by The Village Board which is made up by 7 members; Village President – John Neumeier, Trustees – Justin Krueger, Jim Ponto, Ruth Wulgaert, Roger Kirch, Beth Sewall, and Cathy Vander Zanden.
Parks & Recreation
Combined Locks has multiple parks throughout the area, but three of the more popular parks are; Lindberg Park, Van Zeeland Park, and Blaese Park. A lot of the recreational activities take place at the Combined Locks Recreation Department. The programs that Combined Locks have are open to residents and non-residents, and these programs typically bring in a lot of people from throughout the Fox Valley. During the summer months the Combined Locks Rec. Department is the hot spot. They have everything from baseball leagues to soccer leagues. At the location of the rec. department they have a lot to do. There is a playground, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts. Also, located in the area is a large hill that is used for sledding during the winter months and there is a homemade ice rink too! There is always something to do in Combined Locks no matter what time of year it is!
