3 New Year’s Resolutions for You and Your Home
January 4, 2012
Published by Greg Drusch
Another year is upon us and we are all making New Years resolutions. Cypress Homes is here to show you that some of your most common resolutions are applicable to your home. Here are three of the most popular New Years resolutions modified to resolve home problems.
1. Spend More Time with Friends and Family
Wouldn’t it be great to have your home dubbed as the best meeting place for friends and family? It sure would, but imagine the hassle that goes along with having a get-together at your house: you have to clean-up, offer meals or snacks, provide entertainment, and then clean again after the party is over. The stress of having friends and family over can be greatly reduced by following this resolution. Arrange your house in an open and welcoming lay-out and maintain neatness. Take care of small messes before they develop into huge tasks. An extra few minutes of orderliness daily will help you to maintain a welcoming house-hold that you will be proud to show off to friends and family.
2. Get Fit and Lose Weight
This resolution is extremely popular. We, at Cypress Homes, would like to share a few tips to help you trim the fat off of your energy bill. First of all, be sure that your house is properly insulated during the cold winter months. Check for any air leaks around windows and doors. Also, turn off lights and unplug devices when you are not using them. Did you know that a cell phone charger still uses electricity when it isn’t even charging your cell phone? Finally, don’t overuse heat. A pair of slippers and a sweatshirt will allow you to comfortably moderate your thermostat and save money.
3. Drop Bad Habits
Many people use the New Year as a fresh start to break some of their bad habits. Breaking these habits requires passion and determination. You can apply this same determination towards dropping bad habits at your house. In fact, use the New Year to start some good habits with your home. For example, organization is easy to start but difficult to keep up. Maintain organization in your home this New Year by setting a side a few minutes each day to put things back where they belong. Additionally, keep your driveway and sidewalks shoveled this winter and keep your yard well groomed when the snow melts. Finally, don’t forget to check your furnace, smoke detectors, and filters. Keeping up on basic maintenance is a great habit to start in 2012.
Add these suggestions to your resolution list for 2012 and make this a great year for both you AND your home!
